It has become a tradition to intensify the dialogue about longevity technologies development in September and October, before and after the UN International Day of Older Persons. This year, the ILA representatives organized and vizited with reports the events in several countries.
– September 7th 2015, Lyon (France): for the Longevity 11 conference (http://www.cass.city.ac.uk/longevity-11/programme) Edouard Debonneuil presented “Do actuaries believe in Longevity Deceleration?”. Worldwide, actuarial assumptions for retirement systems indeed correspond to decelerating longevity trends.
– September 9th 2015, Lyon (France): for the annual international Longevity 11 conference (http://www.cass.city.ac.uk/longevity-11/programme) Alexander Zhavoronkov presented “Big Data and Longevity”, indicating that big data on health data is currently revolutioning health solutions to aging and aging diseases.
– September 22th 2015, Moscow (Russia): the conference “State policy for the development of biomedical technologies for aging and age-related diseases prevention and treatment” took place in the Central House of Scientists. The conference was organizaed by the representatives of russian branch of the ILA with the grant support of one of the biggest russian NGOs in the field of public health – Leagues of National Health. The participants spoke about innoovative technologies in gerontology, as well as the need to improve legislation to give a “green light” to the list of technologies to address aging.
– September 24th 2015, Basel (Switzerland): at the annual international Big Pharma conference entitled “Basel Life Science Week” a specific day was reserved for Aging & Drug Discovery (http://www.basel-life-science-week.eu/2015/forums/aging-and-drug-discove…) There, people like Alexei Moskelev presented the most promising gerontodrugs for humans, Edouard Debonneuil presented techniques to find gerontodrugs in Health data, Alexander Zhavoronkov presented the In Silico Medicine strategy.

– September 30th 2015, Moscow (Russia): the report of russian branch representatives on the  current state of legislation on aging and longevity worldwide is presented to the general public. The attendees of the meeting discussed whether it is time to classify aging as a syndrome or a disease to open for the biomedical industry the possibility to try and register new therapies for aging prevention.
– October 1st 2015, Paris (France). For the day of older persons and the beginning of the Longevity month, Anton Kulaga and Edouard Debonneuil organized a meeting where aging researchers presented their work. A large part was also dedicated to Longevity Citizen science, including a short general course on aging, results of the “I’m a little mouse crowdfunding” and a project by BlueNova to create an international crowd-written white paper on how to defeat aging. http://cri-paris.org/celebrate-international-ageing-day-at-the-cri/
– October 1st 2015, Paris (France). Jean-Marie Robine and Didier Coeurnelle debated at the Museum d’Histoire Naturelle about the film ‘The Immortalists’.
– October 3rd 2015, Brussels (Belgium): Heales and the International Longevity Alliance are happy to announce that the first place of the 2015 Longevity Movie competition is shared between Adam Alonzi and Tim Maupin and the third place goes to Tom Pasek. Tim’s movie will be made public soon. Congratulations to the winners! There were many good submissions and the jury wants to thank all candidates for their excellent submissions.Â
– October 4th 2015, Paris (France). Jean-Marie Robine and Edouard Debonneuil debated at the Museum d’Histoire Naturelle about the film ‘The Immortalists’. It was mentionned that tremendous advances were ongoing for faster life expectancy increases, thanks to the impressive work and energy of some persons, but that ‘Immortality’ is a sensationalist word that doesn’t depict the appearently ongoing advances. Also it was noted that the field of life extension is not only about telomerase, and typically as we grow old we are poisoined by old cells that solw down the regeneration of our tissues; something natural selection was not ‘asked’ to fix.
– October 11th 2015, Reddit AMA (online): Liz Parrish, founding member of the ILA board and now CEO of BioViva, explained in front of 700 persons that she has tested a double Longevity gene therapy. She had multiple injections with AAV viruses to be treated for telomerase (hTert) and follistatin. Her health will be closely followed on a monthly and then yearly basis.
